Be a light to those in the darkness....   |   Thursday, August 12, 2010

Family. We all have some. Maybe not children, but siblings. Maybe not siblings, but parents. Maybe a husband. Maybe not. Maybe friends that are like family. Support from those that love us is so important to our 'survival'... emotionally and physically.
These women are so dependent on those around them to love them unconditionally, support them emotionally and help them physically. Whether is driving them to a chemo treatment, helping them around the house or understanding when they are cranky and tired...
Cindy K. and other women fighting breast cancer are secretly concerned about the young women in their homes and worry that their girls will eventually fight the same battle that they are. As Mom's, we'd do anything to protect our children from harm... with disregard for ourselves and our own discomfort, we fervently pray that we might fight the battle for them and bear the pain for them.
We all need to be aware of those in our midst that are fighting these battles and be an encouragement to them. Reach out to them. Send a love note to brighten their day. Make a call to cheer someone....anyone that comes to mind. Whether they are battling cancer or depression, a new job or a job loss. We all need support from those that care about us. Be that light in someone's day today.
You may not have noticed, but we've added Biggby Coffee to our sponsor list! They are donating a free drink card to every woman coming into the studio to be photographed. Just a small bit of enjoyment and thank you for participating!

I am going to join my husband's family for the next few days our annual Shaver family camping trip, taking joy in spending time with those that love me unconditionally and encourage me in my life. I need a bit of a break and this trip is well timed. I'll be back to posting next week, so come back! We have 6 more women coming in next week, so lot's more photos and stories will be coming! Enjoy your weekend with your family and those you love most!

The beautiful photograph and the uplifting article echo my thoughts and actually how my father and I coped with my Mom's cancer. We brought "Happy Moments" into her life, as many as we could, to brighten her day. I think the message is clear. When in doubt as to how you can help someone in need, give love, kind words, and sunshiny happiness.
