Loosing one of our own.... Is so sad.   |   Friday, August 13, 2010

It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes I have to report that Denise A. passed away quietly in her sleep this morning. I was able to stop and see her yesterday afternoon and hold her hand and tell her how much her life has touched so many people. Her life has been an inspiration to those around her. She was a rowdy, no rules kind of a girl... didn't conform to what people thought she should be and through this past couple months, has been Bold and Brave in her attitude. She never, ever complained about pain or discomfort, even though, I'm sure she was. She never even considered wallowing in self pity, even though she had every reason to.... she will be missed.
I am so thankful to have met and known her. I'm so thankful for her willingness to be a part of this project. I'm thankful for her laugh and her smile, even though she knew her time was very limited. She would not want us to mourn her, but to celebrate that this journey is over and she is at rest. She would be the first to tell us to lift a glass in her honor and have a big party to remember her. She would have been celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary on Monday.... she did desperately want to be here for that, and I'm sure that she will be... in spirit. She leaves behind her husband of almost 20 years, Morey and her son, Matthew, both of which cared for her 24/7 till the end and her dog, "Chicky".
Please remember to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. I know that this all happened much faster than anyone anticipated and that they will struggle without her. She was employed by the Lansing Fire Department and was much loved by her co-workers... they have been so supportive and caring. They too will miss her smiling face!
God Bless you Denise. I am thankful for you and will miss you.

A stunning tribute. I didn't know Denise, but my cousins thought very highly of her and I know this will be such a loss to her family.

Terri, I am so greatful you were a part of my Mother's life. I remember when she first told me about this project and how excited she was to be a part of it. You really captured just how beautiful my Mother is. I would also like to thank the entire LFD FAMILY for all the warmth and help provided throughout the past week which allowed me to witness the fact that we were not the only ones who loved Denise and knew just how special she really was. We love you MOM!
